Have you ever wondered what is the recipe for Chai Tea Mix? Some of us call it Chai Masala. What makes up that wonderful armoa that wafts from a cup of chai and teases your senses. It doesnīt just smell heavenly but the ingredients that go into it are also good for you.

The spices that create that wonderful cup of chai are not mysterious or complicated. But the right combination is required.

Recipe for Chai Masala

There are different variations to this recipe but here are some of the key ingredients

* Cloves
* Cardamoms (both green and brown)
* Fennel seeds
* Cinnamon stick

To bring out the flavor, it is preferable to crush the cloves and cardamoms. There are green and brown cardamoms. The brown cardamoms are quite strong in flavour and smell and just a little bit almost always hits the right spot and makes that cup of chai more flavourful. Try and include them in your chai mix. You will definitely notice the difference.

You can either ground the spices as needed or make a batch of the chai mix in a spice blender and store it in a bottle. The chai mixture can stay in your spice cupboard and you can use it as required.

For two cups of tea, use one clove, two green cardamoms, four to five fennel seeds, a sliver of cinnamon stick and a very small piece of brown cardamom and crush them. They donīt have to be crushed into a fine powder. Just bruise them enough so the flavours are released.
