Oolong Tea

Oolong Tea is also known as wulong or wu-long tea. The word Oolong means “Black Dragon”.

It comes from the same tea plant Cameillia Sinesis but undergoes a different processing method. The major difference between the types of tea is their degree of oxidation (exposure to oxygen).

Green Tea is an unfermented tea, Black Tea is fermented which gives it the full and rich flavour and Oolong is a semi fermented tea (oxidized), where the fermentation process is stopped before the leaves begin to change colour.

This unique drying process creates a tea that has many attributes. The tea is recognized for its intense and flowery qualities and combines the health benefits of both green and black tea.

It has a taste more akin to green tea but minus the grassy vegetal notes that identify green tea.

Like other teas from the Cameilla Sinesis plant, this tea contains polyphenols which give this tea its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help protect our body from free radical damage and helps prevents many diseases.

This tea is recommended and recognized especially for its weight loss properties.
