Matcha Green Tea

Matcha Green Tea is a green powdered tea made from premier tea plants that are shaded. It has a low tannin content which gives it a very characteristic mellow flavour.

This is the tea that is traditionally used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony. In comparison to other teas, Matcha is generally more expensive

Brewing Instructions+

Follow these simple steps to brew your perfect cup of matcha:

  • Use cold, filtered water.
  • Do not use tap water since the chlorine will affect the quality of the tea.
  • Bring water to a gentle boil.
  • Pour about 2 oz of the hot water into a ceramic mug.
  • Place ½ teaspoon of matcha green tea into a round cappuccino mug or a bowl.
  • Take the cooled water from the ceramic mug and pour it into the bowl with the matcha in it.
  • Whisk the tea with a bamboo whisk (this is quite easily obtained from a tea store) until a fine froth develops, approximately 15 seconds.
  • If you want your matcha more diluted, add extra water.
  • Pour and enjoy!
