Green Tea Skin Care Benefits and Tips
Skin inflammation According to Science Daily (Aug. 7, 2007) “ Green tea could hold promise as a new treatment for skin disorders such as psoriasis and dandruff, Medical College of Georgia researchers say. Researchers studied an animal model for inflammatory skin diseases, which are often characterized by patches of dry, red, flaky skin caused by the inflammation and overproduction of skin cells. Those treated with green tea showed slower growth of skin cells and the presence of a gene that regulates the cells' life cycles”
Green Tea and Cancer Studies have shown that green tea when applied topically, can help with the prevention of skin cancer. A 2003 study published in the American Chemical Society discovered that green tea prevents skin cancer by blocking the harmful enzyme junk-2.
Green Tea and Acne Green Tea is rich in antioxidants and drinking a few cups of green tea a day can help the body rid itself of toxins and promote health and well being, both inside and out. For acne treatments, green tea can be consumed as a drink.
The other more common treatment is the application of green tea cream. In a study reported to the American Academy of Dermatology, treating acne using green tea cream vs. benzoyl peroxide solution produced similar results. This means that green tea cream is as effective as benzyol peroxide for skin care.
Circles under your Eyes This is more a beauty tip than a health issue. Place a moist tea bag under your eyes to tighten and refresh the eye area.
