Chai Tea Recipe





Chai Tea Recipes tend to vary. It’s fun to experiment. Using this as a base, you will eventually find or create your own favourite concoction. Or you may just enjoy this recipe the way it is. The is authentic, traditional Chai!

Chai Tea Recipe - makes 2 cups

Ingredients

* 2 cups water
* 2 cloves
* 3 green cardamoms
* A small piece of brown cardamom
* Pinch of fennel seeds
* A small piece of cinnamon stick
* 3/4 cup milk
* 2 teaspoons of tea leaves or 1 tea bag

Preparation

Crush all spices using pestle and mortar. Crushing the spices bring out the flavour very nicely.

Place water and all spices in a pot and bring to boil

Cover and lower the heat to allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes

Add tea leaves and bring it to a gentle boil, then allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes

Add milk and bring to a gentle boil

Remove from heat, add sugar or honey as desired.

Strain and Enjoy!

As noted, there are many variations to this recipe. To the spice mix, you can add nutmeg and peppercorns. Try different recipes and figure out which one works best for you.


Milk Tea Recipe - makes 2 cups

Milk Tea is very similar to Chai Tea but instead of water, use Milk.

Ingredients

* 2.5 cups of milk
* ¼ inch fresh ginger root
* 2 cloves
* 3 green cardamoms
* A small piece of of brown cardamom
* Pinch of fennel seeds
* 1.5 inch cinnamon stick
* 2 teaspoons of tea leaves or 1 tea bag

Preparation

Crush all spices using pestle and mortar

Place milk, spices and tea in a pot and bring to a gentle boil

Allow to simmer on low heat for about 5-7 minutes

Remove from stove, add sugar or honey as desired

Strain and Enjoy!
